The Netherlands is home to two genuinely distinct Indian-origin communities: a direct Indian-origin population of 65,399 (Statistics Netherlands, 2022, up from 32,682 in 2016) alongside a much larger, historically distinct Indo-Surinamese (Hindustani) community of roughly 200,000 -- combining to make it home to the second-largest Indian-origin population in Europe after the UK.
